"Better"

I love the word "better". It suggests something absolute against which to compare against. In what sense is Western Ethics better than Hitler's Ethics if there was no "Best" Ethics, the Absolute Ethics? In what way is "Alive" better than "Dead" if there was no "purpose" to live for, "Sentient" creatures better than non Sentient ones if thoughts are "merely" chemical occurrences of the brain? There are no "logical" grounds for these!

But no one rejects these premises.
