Anyway.. I deliberately didn't say anything about the song today. I wanted to let it speak for itself. It was very tempting to speak about it though, so I will just do it here =p=p
In Christ AloneKeith Getty & Stuart Townend
In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.
A few lines touched me greatly from these.. There was the line about "Till on that Cross that Jesus died, the Wrath of God was satisfied". Wow. What a way to put it. And how sad the lamb is! Wrath. A word we hardly hear of. Yet how real. For the Wrath of God is against mankind. If we can scarcely stand our parents / bosses wrath, how much more that of God! Yet He took that Wrath.
And next there was "Light of the world by darkness slain". Once again, wow. What a way to put it. How can darkness overcome light? Only if light allows itself to! For what is darkness but the absence of light? But of course, He burst forth into "Glorious Day"! He rose from the grave, and Sin lost its power over me, Death.
"Till He returns or calls me home"... Isn't that the desire of every Christian's heart? To be with Christ again for the first time. To see Him face to face. Yet even before that, "from Life's first cry, to final breath", He will command my destiny. As long as there is breath in us, He will take care of us...
PS: It sounds a little Hymn like doesn't it? =p
PPS: Thanks Nat!
